Solna 3 oli todella yllättävän laimea keikka. Kolmas ilta siellä, ja aivan kuin ekaa iltaa vedettäisiin. Harmittaa kovasti, kun minulla ei ollut mahdollisuutta mennä kahdelle ekalle Solnan keikalle. Nyt kaikki odottivat jotakin spesiaalia, erityisesti Turun huikeiden keikkojen jälkeen. No joo, tulihan sieltä BITUSA kokonaan, mutta paria biisiä lukuunottamatta siinäkään ei ole mitään spesiaalia. Twist&Shout -lopetus oli ilmiselvä valinta ja tylsä. Keikan aloituksesta en viitsi edes sanoa mitään. Rosie oli ehkä illan paras veto, mutta jotenkin sekin oli liian ennalta-arvattava. Kaiken kaikkiaan illan parhaaksi anniksi jäi loistavat soundit. Olin Nilsin puoleisen skriinin kohdalla, pitin taka-aidalla. Ja siihen kuului loistavasti. Ensimmäisetä kertaa missään pystyin vaivatta erottamaan ainakin lähes kaikki soittimet. Liekö tämä asia yhteydessä siihen, että SOlnassa pitin taka-aita oli merkittävästi kauempana kuin mistä olen yleensä keikat katsonut? Erityisen mainiota oli kuunnella Royn pianoa kerrankin kunnolla. Esim Göteborgissa viime kesänä en kuullut pianoa lähes ollenkaan.
Kyllä tässä taas tulee mieleen, että olenko pilalle hemmoteltu? Olenko nähnyt liian monta keikkaa? Herranen aika, lavalla oli kuitenkin Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band! Ei se voi olla huono. Miksi olen kuitenkin pettynyt? Ainakin mulla taisi olla maha täynnä Turun jälkeen. Ehkä Brucellakin oli? Ensimmäisen kerran ikinä nyt minulla ei ollut sitä lapsenomaista innostusta ja värinää ennen keikkaa eikä keikan aikanakaan, vaan tarkastelin asioita kylmän viileästi. Ikään kuin ulkopuolisen silmin.

Mulla ei ollut mahdollisuutta lähteä Solna 3:lle, mutta Solna 1&2 sekä Turku 1&2 jättivät mut täysin tyytyväiseksi. Ei tullut sellaista pakonomaista tarvetta lähteä näiden jälkeen mihinkään. Solna 3 oli mun 20. keikka, joten sen aloitus tuntui kyllä sydänalassa aikalailla, kun ensimmäisenä tuli mun the biisi. BITUSAA osattiin odottaa, kuultiin kun My Hometown tsekattiin. Ja se olikin ihan hyvä, kuluneemmatkin biisit sai albumikeikasta yllättävää potkua, esim. Darlington-Highway combosta tykkäsin lujaa, koska tykkään siitä levylläkin, mutta paras yllätys oli se, että tässä kokonaisuudessa Glory Days ja Dancingkin olivat taas jotenkin "ennallaan", eli tuttujen biisien osalta levykeikka sai vaan muistamaan sen, kuinka niitä on jo silloin joskus kuunneltu ja nostalgian nostattamina nekin tuntuivat taas tuoreilta.
Ja sitten kun rumpukomppi alkoi My Hometowinin jälkeen, mun sydän melkein pysähtyi. Eka ajatus oli, että tää on Caddy, mutta sitten en uskaltanut edes uskoa. Enkä uskonut tosissaan että on Caddy vaikka Annu ja mrk kummatkin vakuuttelivat että kyllä se nyt tulee, ennenkuin kitara alkoi. Sitten kyllä huudettiin, pompittiin ja laitettiin kunto koetukselle, hienoa oli! En osaa selittää, miksi tuota biisiä olen viime kesästä asti niin kovasti odottanut, mutta nyt se taas viimein tuli, mulle se oli kyllä keikan kohokohta (mikä sekin ehkä kertoo jotain keikasta, sillä vaikka Caddy on ihan loistava bilebiisi, ei se nyt mikään kaikkien aikojen legendaarisin biisi ole).

Rosalita oli encoreissa kiva (tosin Quarterin kylttiä näytettiin ensin, se olisi ollut ehkä vieläkin parempi ylläri), Raise Your Hands sai toivomaan, että keräisi nyt edes yhden kyltin, mutta ei. Ehkä oli vaan oma tunne, mutta tuntui että me ei oltu ainoita, joilla oli vähän takki tyhjä Turun jälkeen. Bruce ei itsekään tuntunut olevan ihan samalla tavalla mukana kuin Turussa. Eli kyllä me vaan Suomessa saatiin jotain ihan todella spessua, eikä siihen tarvittu mitään albumikeikkoja. Ensin lyhyttä rapsaa, laajempaa tiedossa sitten joskus:
Turku voitti Solnat selvästi, mutta kiva keikka meillä kyllä eilen oli. En ole ikinä kuullut Brucea yhtä rokkaavana, ja vaikka katsomon nostatukset puuttuivat, pitin etuosa oli nii-in täysillä mukana kuin vain Ruotsissa vois olla, ja sinne me onneksi luotojan kanssa oltiin suunnattu kun usemmat muut suomalaiset tyytyivät tällä kertaa taka-aitaan. On totta että koska mun kädet olivat väsyneet, olivat varmaan monen muunkin eikä pompittu yhkä yhtä rankasti kun jossain muulla keikalla, mutta kyllä tämä yhteislaulu hakkaa kevyesti kaiken muilla keikoilla ikinä kuullun! Yllätyksellimpää keikkaa odotin, mutta eipä harmita että tuonne tuli lähdettyä. Multa puuttui BitUSAlta kaksi biisiä, ne sain ja vielä killeriversioina!
Entä ne kaikki kaverit ennen keikkaa ja sen aikana? THL-lento, ruokaseuraa Burger Kingissä, jonotusseuraa, pittiseuraa (kiitos mun kestämisestä, luotoja!) ja ennen kaikkea ne lukuisat ulkomaalaiset, jotka tulivat ennen keikkaa, sen aikana tai sen jälkeen kättelemään, juttelemaan ja kaljaa tarjoamaan alottaen jollain "Muistatko kun Hesassa viime kesänä piirsit pittinumeron mun käteen, tässä mulla on kännykässä vielä kuvakin siitä", "Muistatko kun Turussa nähtiin ja juteltiin sitä sun tätä" tai "Hei, etkö sä laulanut sitä Waitingia Solna kakkosella?"
Pitääpä viimeisen puolentoista viikon aikana koettujen juttujen perusteella muistaa täydentää "Kuinka käyttäytyä keikalla" - ja "Kaverin kanssa keikalla" -juttuja ainakin kaverin pyörtymisellä (Se, öh, Karriko se oli? toimi ihan oikein), Brucen crowd surfilla ja oikealla tapaamispaikan ja -ajan sopimisella (ei ainakaan niin kuin eilen, vaikka aika osa meistä löysikin toisensa lopulta siellä rautatieasemalla).

This is your hometown too, Bruce.
Third Solna night, and we are back in Sweden after two fantastic and wild Turku nights. As we arrive just in the day of the show, I have only #572 on my hand but in this huge pit, that's a quite good number. We spend the day chatting with friends from Finland and all around the world. Most people are sure that this will be a full album BitUSA show, and that we'll get lots of surprises before and after it.
While most Finns chose to hang at the back of the pit, my pit buddy luotoja and me decide to get as close to the front rail we can, and so we end up somewhere around 4th-5th line from that fence between Nils' and middle catwalks. Weird, early pit rush makes us all stand already at 6 PM, and with the dense crowd, the pit turns into a hot kettle. First person faints even before the band enters, but we decide to keep our spot.
Show time, and that's The Promised Land followed by Out in the Street, We Take Care of Our Own, Wrecking Ball, Death to My Hometown and Spirit in the Night. As this is so similar (too similar) to Solna #1, it is easy to guess that we'll get a full album show and yes, Bruce says something about Sweden feeling like a second home and this is only for you Swedes. Shorter and perhaps less enthusiastic speech than in previous Solna shows?
But never mind the length of the speech, this is Born in the USA and although perhaps not as intensive as in Turku, this is a good version! Cover Me, I love that. Darlington County and Working on the Highway are so familiar, but now we can concentrate on a beautiful Downbound Train.
I'm on Fire, I have never heard this one before live although every time I open radio and hear a Springsteen tune, it is either this or The River. The audience decides that it is time for fireflies and a lot of cell phones and even some cigarette lighters are lit on seats while people on floor concentrate on filming that with their cell phones.
No Surrender, how I love it when the audience starts singing from the first notes of the tntro. Yes, even the instrumental parts are sung along in many songs and that often sounds really good! So many people around me are singing, clapping, jumping and waving, just like only a Swedish crowd can do! Later I heard that the other Finns complained that big part of the pit had been totally passive and just the very few front lines had taken part actively. Never mind the heat and pushing (a typical Swede in a pit doesn't know what "personal space" means), being surrounded by very active pit folks always adds something extra to the show!
Bobby Jean means waving hands and although pit waves, only a very few people on seats are waving and I'm not sure if there are more than few groups of people standing, although we have the first half of this show already behind us. Unlike in earlier shows, Bruce doen't encourage seated folk to participate although this would have been a good moment to do so.
I'm Going Down, yet another rocking tone! So many rockers this far, I bet that we'll get some slower ones after this album part. Glory Days is fine like always, and Steve comes to the middle catwalk with Bruce during this. Steve was very active during this show, and also Jake was called to the front of the stage and even to the catwalk so many times. No long Nils solos tonight. Dancing in the Dark was fun to hear in the midle of the show and not in the encore. A very good dancer tonight, but the Nordic dance competition winner is still by far Salla from Turku #1.
And then the last song of the album, My Hometown, another song I've never heard live and although I've been listening to some boots, I hadn't known about that Bruce lets the audience singe every other "your hometown" verse in the end. We sing strongly and as so many fingers point to Bruce, who is holding his mic high over the audience, this really sounds like the audience is saying that Stockholm is your hometown too, Bruce. I totally loved that moment.
That was that, and now back to the normal show with Cadillac Ranch! Still more rockers, eh? But fun, fun, fun! There should be a law that every set list by whatever band should always have at least one rocking Cadillac song. Shackled and Drawn is the normal version without shoveling intro, as we are not in Finland any more.
No singing kids during Waitin' on a Sunny Day, but our part of the pit manages together to raise one young woman high enough so that Bruce could finally reach her hand! She was so happy after that that this Finnish-Swedish co-operation was really worth it! The la la la parts of The Rising sound very good with this pit crowd. And this is Radio Nowhere, Bruce and the ESB really rock tonight. Is there anybody alive out there? Certainly in the pit like anyone can see, but I'm not that sure about the rest of the floor and the seats.
No show goes without Badlands, and yet another very beautiful version of Thunder Road ends the main set. Again, I remember certain two lanes which at a cartain moment really could take me anywhere, and again I get all teary eyed when I hear my favourite song.
Encores start with Raise Your Hand, what a fun cover song and yet another rocker. Bruce strips his vest and tie already during this song. Perhaps there is now request collecting as there have been no requests in the set list this far? Nope, although there are interesting song names written on so many pieces of cardboard. Born to Run is followed by Rosalita, nice to hear that song at least once this summer.
After it we have just Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out and of course the stadium breaker, Twist and Shout, left. No band intros during 10th Avenue or any other song. During Twist and Shout Bruce pointed at the far ends of this arena for the first time and told people to get up, but unlike on earlier four shows, there were lots of people sitting all the time and just a minority was dancing.
Kind of a weird set list. Nearly all of the songs were rockers, and there were no big surprises, well, hardly even little surprises but mainly big hits. No band intro. No requests. Normal amount of contact with audience, but nearly solely with the front part of the pit and the rest were forgotten. I love rockers and I was among the active part of the pit and so I liked the show, but still, like something was missing tonight when compared to Turku or even to the earlier Solna shows.
Interesting to see how the show developes after this. The next stop for ESB is Denmark and then there is one show in Italy before a short pause, during which they either travel home or have a south European vacation, and we all can do intensive set list watch. I hope to catch a show in Münich, Germany later this month.

And this is Radio Nowhere, Bruce and the ESB really rock tonight. Is there anybody alive out there? Certainly in the pit like anyone can see, but I'm not that sure about the rest of the floor and the seats.
No show goes without Badlands, and yet another very beautiful version of Thunder Road ends the main set. Again, I remember certain two lanes which at a cartain moment really could take me anywhere, and again I get all teary eyed when I hear my favourite song.
Encores start with Raise Your Hand, what a fun cover song and yet another rocker. Bruce strips his vest and tie already during this song. Perhaps there is now request collecting as there have been no requests in the set list this far? Nope, although there are interesting song names written on so many pieces of cardboard. Born to Run is followed by Rosalita, nice to hear that song at least once this summer.
After it we have just Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out and of course the stadium breaker, Twist and Shout, left. No band intros during 10th Avenue or any other song. During Twist and Shout Bruce pointed at the far ends of this arena for the first time and told people to get up, but unlike on earlier four shows, there were lots of people sitting all the time and just a minority was dancing.
Kind of a weird set list. Nearly all of the songs were rockers, and there were no big surprises, well, hardly even little surprises but mainly big hits. No band intro. No requests. Normal amount of contact with audience, but nearly solely with the front part of the pit and the rest were forgotten. I love rockers and I was among the active part of the pit and so I liked the show, but still, like something was missing tonight when compared to Turku or even to the earlier Solna shows.
Interesting to see how the show developes after this. The next stop for ESB is Denmark and then there is one show in Italy before a short pause, during which they either travel home or have a south European vacation, and we all can do intensive set list watch. I hope to catch a show in Münich, Germany later this month.
